UrbanVolt, the energy-saving LED lighting firm run by former Merrill Lynch banker Kevin Maughan, has hired a bright spark from Bord Gais Energy. Alan Duggan, who was seconded by BGE to the Department of Energy until last month, has joined UrbanVolt as head of energy strategy.

Duggan was previously energy efficiency manager for BGE, which has made UrbanVolt its preferred lighting supplier for its commercial customers. Duggan will help expand the services offered by his new employer, which is investing €30 million targeting SMEs with free energy-saving lights.
