THE European Union's top court is set to rule tomorrow on a maximum working week that could further strain Britain's relationship with its EU partners.

The European Court of Justice will give its verdict on whether an EU law on working hours and rest periods should stand.

Britain argues that a 1993 directive limiting the average work week to 48 hours in most sectors was adopted illegally.
