AIG, which last year signed a tasty sponsorship with Dublin GAA worth more than €4 million, has struck a separate deal with a company whose principals are closely linked to the Boys in Blue.

The insurer this week held a staff event in Dublin for more than 100 employees. It was also attended by a number of Dublin GAA stars who brought along the Sam Maguire, the National League trophy and the Delaney Cup, awarded to the winners of the Leinster title.

One of the players parading the cups was Dubs forward Bernard Brogan. An accountant, he co-owns Legacy Sports & Entertainment Consultants, which organised the gig this week at AIG. Legacy has been retained by the insurer to help it "activate" the Dubs sponsorship. This will involve helping it to organise various Dubs-linked corporate hospitality events.

Brogan's business partners in Legacy include his cousin, solicitor James Brogan, another former member of the Dubs panel. It also employs former Ipswich soccer pro Shane Supple, one of Dublin's goalkeepers.

Other members of the extended Brogan family have been busy in corporate circles recently. The Legacy duo's uncle Aidan Brogan is chief executive of the Dermot Desmond-backed travel tech outfit Datalex.

Datalex this week announced a major deal with Jetblue Airways, which has helped the stock keep up its good run on the Iseq.

The manager of ESB International, which is currently eyeing up a number of lucrative contracts in Africa, is another member of the clan – Ollie Brogan, another uncle of James and Bernard.
