A leading British insurance company is set to introduce lie-detector tests in order to discourage fraudulent claims. Highway Insurance, Britain's eighth-largest motor insurer, hopes to root out the liars by assessing calls with a voice-analysis machine.

Voices that reveal high levels of stress could be subject to further investigation, the company said, but it promised that detector results would not be used as the sole basis for a claim refusal.
