A Colombian man was arrested in Bogota last week in connection with an anonymous note on the Internet that sparked a limited run on deposits at a leading bank.

A statement from the state security police identified the suspect as Mr Jose Omar Olaya Rivera (24), and said he had been charged with "sowing financial panic".

The run on the Davivienda SA, a top mortgage bank, occurred after a message posted anonymously on the Internet said it was about to be taken over by government regulators.
