JFC Plastics has targeted eastern Europe by opening a €2 million factory near Warsaw.

According to managing director Mr John Concannon, the opening of the plant in Poland is the culmination of four years of expansion aimed at gaining greater eastern markets for the Tuam, Co Galway, firm which also has factories in the UK and the Netherlands.

The company manufactures a range of plastic products including bottle banks, home heating oil tanks, drainage pipes, medical care products, linen baskets, agricultural water troughs and an assortment of other items for the agricultural and equine sector.

JFC's Polish factory will also be a customer for some of the smaller plastic products made at the Tuam plant which has also been expanded.

In March JFC became the largest recycler of plastic bottles in Britain following two acquisitions in England.
