Financial services lawyer Liam Carney has joined the Irish office of Maples and Calder from Arthur Cox in what is believed to be the first such defection of a partner from the State’s leading law firm.

He is the third partner from one of the large firms to join Maples and Calder in recent months.

The Cayman-based firm has aggressively targeted the Irish market since establishing itself here in 2006.
