Marketing.ie has launched Marketing.ie TV, a video gallery designed to bring more traffic to the website.

To date, it features clips of Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland chief executive Tania Banotti, Ireland's "digital champion" David Puttnam and film director Lenny Abrahamson, who were all interviewed by editor Michael Cullen at last month's Kinsale Sharks advertising awards.

Abrahamson, a judge in the awards and an occasional maker of commercials, tells Marketing.ie he is upbeat about the creative quality of the Irish advertising business.

"I think it is sort of higher than it has a right to be – for such a small country, the quality is very high," the Adam & Paul and What Richard Did director says. "I don't doubt that there are some very fine creatives there, especially if they get a chance to do more work."

Revenue stream
Cullen describes branching into video as "an experiment" – one that he hopes will attract a revenue stream in the form of sponsorship in the coming months.

“We all have to migrate to digital to some extent,” he says. Marketing.ie magazine, meanwhile, has a print run of 3,000 and is commercially supported primarily by advertising, with some corporate subscriptions.
