A majority of the 800 staff at Eason's have voted in favour of accepting pay cuts of between 4 per cent and 10 per cent. Staff in the book-to-stationary retailer had rejected the proposed pay cuts in April but they accepted them in a second ballot this week after the Labour Court recommended their acceptance. "We can confirm that staff have been balloted and accepted proposals," a spokesman for Eason said. "They will be implemented shortly." Eason management is hoping to reduce its overall costs by €2.5 million by various measures and pay reductions is an important part of this plan.
