Smurfit upgrades French facility

Smurfit France has invested £5 million in a new waste water treatment plant at its Facture mill

Smurfit France has invested £5 million in a new waste water treatment plant at its Facture mill. The investment is in line with the environmental plan outlined by the chairman, Dr Michael Smurfit, at the group's annual meeting this year. "The new plant will enable us to reduce significantly both the amount of wather used in the production of paper and the percentage of suspended matter in the discharged water," according to Mr Tony Smurfit, chief executive of Smurfit France.
