3D printing goes micro with new low-cost M3D

Kickstarter campaign for mini printer reached its goal in minutes

Micro 3D printer

$299

The idea of 3D printing may be a relatively new one to most people, but companies have been hard at work trying to make the technology more accessible - and affordable - for the average user. Forget shelling out a few thousand for your own desk tp printer so you can recreate your head in 3D plastic; the Micro 3D printer is offering to give you that chance for around $300. It works with a few different materials, including ABS and nylon, and can be used to create some small (but perfectly formed) models and other projects. It seems Kickstarter backers agree; the early production runs are all sold out, but you can get your hands on one early next year if you are willing to invest now.
