Irish tech start-up Boxever has begun offering employees two flights to anywhere in the world if they successfully refer people for positions within the company.

Boxever chief executive Dave O’Flanagan said attracting the best and brightest people was a major goal for any company and typically the strongest talent was going to be gainfully employed somewhere else.

He said companies had many ways to source and attract this talent but, time and again, referrals had proven to be the best method.

“Current employees understand the company culture and can give a sense of whether a new person will be a good fit for the organisation,” he said.

To incentivise referrals, employees will receive an upfront cash reward when their referral signs on.

After the referral has been employed with the company for six months, Boxever will fly the employee and a guest anywhere in the world.

Open positions

Boxever, which provides a big-data platform for airlines and travel operators, has several open positions, including data scientists, software engineers, a systems and infrastructure engineer, technical lead and customer success manager.

“Since the launch of this hiring initiative, our hiring pipeline has exploded,” Mr O’Flanagan said.

Boxever is backed by Polaris Partners, which led a $6 million (€4.7 million) series A funding round earlier this year.
