Travel software firm Datalex saw revenue jump 14 per cent to $20.2 million for the six months to the end of June on the back of strong growth in its core business.

The company, which is backed by businessman Dermot Desmond, signed up a number of new clients during the period, including New York-based JetBlue Airways, Brussels Airlines, which is a member of the Lufthansa Group, and Air Transat, Canada's leading holiday travel airline.

The company also opened a new office in Beijing to support its existing customers in the region and to exploit opportunities in China.

Datalex said its transaction revenue rose 19 per cent to $9.6 million, reflecting the full half-year impact of customers that went live during 2013.

In its outlook for the coming period, Datalex said: “We are undertaking a significant program of new customer deployments and are investing in the business infrastructure and capabilities required to scale the business and drive our performance in 2015 and beyond.”

“The results achieved in the first half provide us with strong momentum and a solid base for the full year performance.”

However, it noted that even with the airline industry facing significant challenges, the company was confident it could achieve 18-20 per cent growth in adjusted earnings for the full year.
