Irish tech startup FanFootage has struck a deal with Irish band Kodaline that will see the company collect and manage the fan-shot videos from the group’s Dublin concert this weekend.
FanFootage takes the fan videos and matches it with high quality audio from the gig. It uses algorithims to sort and sync the video with live audio approved by artists. That leave the videos open to being used as part of an artist’s music video.
The footage is credited to the fans who produce it on FanFootage’s website.
This weekend’s concert at theO2 will be Kodaline’s biggest headline gig to date.
Established by Cathal Furey in 2011 as 45Sound, the company has already worked with more than 200 artists around the world, such as Bon Jovi, Hozier, Delorentos and the Magic Numbers, along with events including the Web Summit.
“Our video platform allows artists and musicians to turn the whole crowd at a concert into their own video crew,” explained Mr Furey. “It means artists can compile video recordings of their concert, from every angle possible, into one place. We solve the fan filming problem and it connects bands with their fans through creative technology.”
The company is also set to branch out further. This bank holiday weekend will see FanFootage partner with the AIB Club Championship to manage video coverage from supporters.
