King of1 Party is both innovative and retro. It's a rare title that offers cross-platform, online multiplayer gaming, so Android and iPhone owners can compete against one another. But the game itself echoes 1980s and 1990s classics such as Paperboy and Mario Party. It's comprised of simple, but generally fun mini games, with more levels and challenges promised in coming months. Swipe the screen to avoid obstacles in Skateboard; tilt your device to stay on your feet in Balance; and tap the screen to mimic a workout in Weightlift, and so on. With an average of two buttons per game, this might be anathema for hardcore gamers, but its target audience of kids will likely enjoy it. As well as being playable and cute, there are some neat ideas. You almost forget the irony of seeing wholesome, outdoorsy kids' party games ported to an electronic device.
