Pure Telecom has agreed a two-year €35 million infrastructure deal with Eir to offer it broadband and phone services to almost two million potential customers.

The Irish telecoms and broadband provider, which is looking to double turnover to €40 million within three years, has signed the contract with Eir's wholesale division, Open Eir, to offer services via its nationwide open access network.

The deal will enable Pure to extend its reach and offer broadband packages with speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps, and follows a €20 million agreement signed by the two companies in June 2015.

Customer base

Pure, which employs more than 100 people in Ireland, is aiming to reach 100,000 residential customers by 2019. Its customer base grew 25 per cent last year to 42,500.

"Open Eir has the most extensive phone and high-speed broadband network in Ireland and one which is growing by the day," Pure chief executive Paul Connell said.

“We are delighted to announce this agreement as it is key to helping us extend our reach to existing and potential customers in cities and towns across the country, as well as rural Ireland. It will help us to meet our target of 100,000 residential customers by 2019, which we are already well on our way to achieving.”
