Tech Tools: Dyson sheds a little light on things with Csys

LED light that’s pushing the boundaries

Csys: €600
Csys: €600

Csys is the design of Jake Dyson – the son of British inventor James, founder of the eponymous company.

It’s LED, but Dyson uses heat pipe technology – more commonly found in computers – that draws heat away from the bulbs and keeps them burning bright for longer.

The design resembles a stand for lab equipment with one vertical arm and one horizontal, which has the LEDs built in and may not appeal to those looking for ornamental lighting features.

You can adjust the height, reach and rotation of the lamp with a fingertip, and it will stay put until you change it again. You can dim it in the same way.

If Dyson’s estimates are correct, it should last 30 years. The estimated life is 154,000 hours. But the sum that sticks in your head is still the €600 price tag.
