I like finding decent open source apps, especially such useful and well-designed ones like Hubble Gallery.
This Android app showcases the best images captured by the Hubble Space Telescope using content pulled from the NASA-run Hubblesite.org.
From breathtaking images of the Orion Nebula to awe-inspiring spacescapes of spiral galaxies, it is easy to feel small and insignificant but worth remembering Carl Sagan's quote: "You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars. You have a right to be here."
The app provides plenty of information on the various high-res images and also the ability to set them as your smartphone wallpaper.
So let's all appreciate good old Hubble before its successor, the James Webb Space Telescope, launches in 2018 and hogs the limelight.
