Intel, together with Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation and online media companies re/code and Vox Media, have joined together to launch Hack Harassment, an initiative designed to take a stand against online harassment. Online incivility, trolling and verbal abuse became hallmarks of social media in 2015 and so this movement is looking to ways to help reduce online harassment and make the web a safer place.

This is more widespread than you might think: 40 per cent of internet users say they have personally experienced online harassment. Of those, 20 per cent say this harassment made them fear for their lives. This harassment goes largely unreported – only 5 per cent of victims report their experiences to the police. One of the most obvious solutions is developing tools to combat online harassment. Ninety per cent of tech professionals believe tools for blocking or reporting troubling content would reduce the problem. http://www.hackharassment.com/
