Director of Cork Airport Pat Keohane is to step down when his seven-year contract expires in October and he will be replaced by Niall MacCarthy from the Dublin Airport Authority, The Irish Times has learned.
Damian Lenagh, DAA human resources director, confirmed to staff last night in a memo that Mr Keohane’s term will finish in October and that Mr McCarthy has been appointed director to succeed him.
“It is important that the DAA ensure an appropriate succession and transition of the director role at Cork Airport and it is for this reason that it is announcing now the appointment of Niall MacCarthy to the position of director Cork Airport designate,” said Mr Lenagh.
It is understood that Mr McCarthy – an accountant by profession and who recently deputised as director of Shannon airport – will work with Mr Keohane over the summer to ensure an appropriate handover of management.
