Davy attracted a heavyweight crowd to its annual transport conference in London on Wednesday, where about 100 potential investors turned up. The gig took place in the Doyle Collection’s Bloomsbury hotel – it’s good to see we Irish still stick together across the water.
The broker donned its Cupid cap and set up 200 meetings between the money folk and executives from Aer Lingus, Ryanair, Irish Continental Group, Air France KLM and a host of others.
Among those on the lookout for some financial action were Eamonn Rothwell, chief executive of ICG, Andrew Macfarlane, the chief financial officer of Aer Lingus, and Kenny Jacobs, Ryanair's swimwear-runner-in-chief (he's doing a charity race wearing Speedos in Hungary in September).
Jacobs, also Ryanair’s chief marketing officer, gave a speech updating investors on the airline’s plans to launch a new app and mobile boarding passes next month. Ryanair is also rumoured to be preparing a new business product comprising fast track through the airport, same-day flight changes, chunkier baggage allowances and priority seating.
Unfortunately for Jacobs and Macfarlane but happily for Rothwell, the conference coincided with the worst of the flight delays caused by the French strike. I trust everyone got home okay.
