UAE-based Emirates Airlines is to double its service on the Dublin to Dubai route.
Emirates chief executive Tim Clark, who met Taoiseach Enda Kenny at the airline's headquarters in Dubai today, said the number of flights on the route is to double.
Mr Kenny, who is on a trade mission to the Gulf region, visited the Emirates headquarters for an event to mark the second anniversary of the airline’s Dublin route.
Emirates’ inaugural flight from Dubai to Dublin took place in January 2012.
The airline currently employs more than 250 cabin crew from Ireland and more than 400 from Ireland throughout the company as a whole.
Nine Irish companies have announced new contracts and business developments worth more than €25million during the first three days of this week’s trade mission to the Middle East.
The contracts were secured on the Saudi Arabia and Qatar legs of the five-day mission, which has now moved on to the United Arab Emirates for the final two days.
