Wind farms in Ireland now supply enough electricity to meet the needs of 80,000 householders. Giving the figure at the opening of Eirtricity's £10.5 million (€13.33 million) wind farm in Culliagh, Mr Joe Jacob, Minister of State at the Department of Public Enterprise, said he hoped electricity generated from renewable resources in Ireland could increase more than fourfold to a target of 500 megawatts by 2005.
