More than 300 people will gather in Dublin tomorrow to celebrate International Women’s Day and to discuss equality and diversity in decision-making positions in business, politics and the media.
The lunch at the Shelbourne Hotel is organised by Network Ireland, an organisation focused on the personal and professional development of women. President of Network Ireland Deirdre Waldron said: "We will discuss how other countries are faring on equality and through this we will have a clearer understanding, learn from best international practices and reflect on how we are doing in Ireland in embracing and influencing policy to support equality and diversity."
Panellists from the US, Canada, Iceland, Romania and the UK will share their experiences. American photojournalist Gabrielle Motola is the keynote speaker. Participants in the political panel discussion include Joan Weinman, co-chairwoman of Equal Voice, a Canadian organisation dedicated to electing more women to all levels of political office in Canada.
White Ribbon Ireland, the Irish arm of the world’s largest male-led campaign to end violence by men against women, is the charity partner.
