A man has been charged by gardaí in Limerick investigating a fatal assault at a house in Garryowen in the early hours of Saturday.
The deceased, named locally as Ger Curtin from Old Cork Road in Limerick, was found seriously injured when gardaí responded to reports of an incident on Sarsfield Avenue at around 4.45am.
Ambulance personnel tended to the 42-year-old on the drive outside the house, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Mr Curtin did not live at the house and gardaí have been trying to piece together his movements on Friday night into Saturday morning.

A Garda spokeswoman said a postmortem had been carried out on Mr Curtin’s remains but the details were not being released for operational reasons.
Gardaí are still seeking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have camera footage, including CCTV and dash cam footage, from the Sarsfield Avenue area between 4am and 5.15am on Saturday. They are asked to contact Henry Street Garda station on 061 212 400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
