A man killed as a result of a suspected fatal assault in Co Kerry has been named locally as Paudie O’Connor.
Garda believe Mr O’Connor, aged in his 40s, was killed by someone known to him in a residential property owned by his mother in An Caislean Mór in Castleisland.
One man, also aged in his 40s, has been arrested and remains in custody. It is understood gardaí are not seeking any other suspects at this time.
At approximately 12.30am on Friday morning, gardaí and emergency services received a report of an unresponsive man with serious injuries outside the house at An Caislean Mór.

Efforts to resuscitate Mr O’Connor on the front lawn were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services
Mr O’Connor worked as a builder and was well-known in the local community.
The scene at An Caislean Mór has been preserved for technical examination, and an investigation is ongoing. The Office of the Forensic Pathologist was notified and a post-mortem on the deceased was completed earlier on Friday, the results of which are not being released for operational reasons.
Ths suspected was being detained on Friday under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Co Kerry.
