A man and a woman have been arrested by gardaí following the seizure of more than €300,000-worth of suspected cocaine, cannabis and tablets at houses in Limerick and Cork.
The drugs were recovered during the search of a house at Main Street, Bruree, Co Limerick, and at a follow-up search at a house at Charleville, north Cork.
Gardaí, led by the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit, Henry Street, first raided the residence at Bruree at around 9pm on Friday night.
A Garda spokesperson said two people were arrested and in excess of €310,600-worth of “illegal drugs” was seized “as part of ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of drugs in the region”.

“During the course of the search of a residence in Bruree, Co Limerick, cannabis (€198,000), cocaine (€10,500), Xanax tablets (€79,252) and amphetamines (€4,350) were seized.
“At a follow-up search of a residence in Charleville, Co Cork, cocaine (€17,500), cannabis (€1,000), weighing scales and drugs paraphernalia were seized.”
A 38-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man were being questioned pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 “at a Garda station in the Co Limerick area”.
“The seized drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland. Investigations are ongoing,” the spokesperson said.
It brings the total street value of drugs seized by the Limerick Divisional Drug Unit in the past five days to a little under €1 million.
On December 30th, the unit seized an estimated €540,000-worth of cannabis herb at a house at Carrigkerry, near Newcastle West, Co Limerick. No arrests were made in that search operation.
