A man has been arrested after being suspected of carrying an explosive device which turned out to be non-viable.
A section of the Liffey Valley shopping centre in west Dublin near the bus terminal was closed off at around 7.30pm.
Gardaí and the Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were quickly on the scene after a member of the public alerted them to a potentially suspect device.
The device was deemed non-viable and the cordon was subsequently lifted. The bomb disposal operation was concluded by 10pm.

A man in his 30s was arrested under public order legislation and is currently detained at a Garda station in the Dublin area.
A spokeswoman for An Garda Síochána confirmed it had responded to “an incident at a retail park” in the Clondalkin area around 7.20pm.
She said: “A cordon was put in place around the area and the services of the Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was requested.
“The EOD team attended the scene. The device was deemed non-viable and the cordon was subsequently lifted.”
Earlier, Dublin Fire Brigade said traffic restrictions were in place around Liffey Valley, near the bus terminal as firefighter/paramedics from Tallaght and its Blanchardstown ambulance respond to the incident.
