Last September Transition Times reported on the Wella Shockwaves Unsigned New Music Competition, a nationwide search for new musical talent among the ranks of Transition Year students.

The winners of last month's national final at Vicar Street were Acidtone, from St Patrick's Grammar School, Downpatrick, Co Down. The four members of the band (pictured right) are: Conor McKee (15), Philip Hanna (15), Adam McKee (13) and Conall McKee (15). Acidtone receive a 2FM Session; a session in a professional recording studio; production of 1,000 CDs, and a €1,000 music equipment voucher.
