Face to Face

Twenty-four artworks by 12 artists, from the collection of the De Pont Museum in the Netherlands, curated by the museum's director Hendrik Driessen, who has built the collection by targeting key works by a relatively small number of artists. The noteworthy line-up includes Ai Weiwei, Marlene Dumas, Roni Horn, Thomas Schütte, Fiona Tan, Luc Tuymans and Jeff Wall, and the work spans painting, sculpture, video, photography and work on paper, with an emphasis on representations of the human body.

Projects examining the human drive to explore and test the limits, such as Andy Gracie's attempts to breed a species of the fruit fly, Drosophilia melanogastor, that could survive on Titan, Saturn's largest moon; Cloud Architecture Office's proposal for high-rise tower places in earth orbit and anchored to an asteroid; and future smells, such as that of bacteria breaking down plastic.
Derek Hill and the View from Donegal

Derek Hill lived in Donegal from the early 1950s and left his home and collection at Church Hill to the Irish people. This show explores his time in Italy in the 1950s and his association with the Tory Island painters. It features many works from his collection.

Nineteen paintings and two site-specific drawings by New York-based Catherine Owens consider the passage of time and the experience of change, focusing on "the light of sunrise and the sounds of the dawn chorus". Owens is a veteran of five world tours as a creative director "of key visual content" for U2.
