I am a married mother of three, living in Co Kildare. I got the idea for Ping and Po-Li whilst trying to get my daughter, Elinor, to sleep at night. I would be gently rubbing her hand as a comfort when the idea to write a book for under-nines came into my mind.
I began typing, and characters soon took shape and a storyline developed. I contacted a publisher, illustrator and editor, in that order, and within a year, Ping and Po-Li the book is here.
Ping is a little panda, who tires of eating bamboo, and decides to take a stroll to the village to visit his friend, Po-Li. They embark on a food adventure through the Asian rainforest in search of tasty treats and discover what other animals eat. They meet interesting animals, such as a vulture named Vicky and a coconut crab. All the animals that feature in the book are endangered.
Children, who have read the book, seem to really engage with the story, and the personalities within. A follow-up to this first adventure is already in the offing.
