Wandermüde Samadhisound ****
For more than three decades, David Sylvian's singular career and music have always been characterised by an idiosyncratic impulse towards experimentation. Wandermüde, his collaboration with electronic artist Stephan Mathieu, recalls his ambient albums Plight Premonition and Flux Mutability with Holger Czukay but also goes significantly further. It uses instrumental material from Sylvian's album Blemish to create original freeform compositions that coalesce into a dense ambient score of languid melodies, shimmering noise, and pulsing decays. While Sylvian has previously reinterpreted his songs in inventive ways (The Good Son vs The Only Daughter, Died in the Wool ) Mathieu and he have transformed them into something original with Wandermüde. samadhisound.com
