SUBMERSIBLE MACHINES
ISOBATHS (Lunar Disko Records)
The slow-burning opening track from the new EP by the Dutch producer is his second on the excellent Irish label Lunar Disko Records. Smooth but surprisingly energetic, it's one for DJs wanting to move the night up a gear.

DJ SPIDER & MARSHALITO
706 (Subbass Soundsystem)
Warm, fuzzy and weird techno from the New York duo. Strong shades of Theo Parrish in the crackling sample and chugging beat, but then it goes places not even Theo would go. Not sure how it works, but it does.

RACHAEL
OKADA (Hotline Recordings)
A strange mix of Bristolian rhythmic stabs paired with understated drums and a tape-hiss underbelly. A subtle but powerful track that will worm its way into your head on repeat listens. It also comes backed with an unmissable DJ Sotofett remix.

VALVED
TWILIGHT AT THE CONTAINMENT CHAMBER (Nute Records)
This less-than-representative track off the new Valved tape explores some deep and distorted techno moves, with reverb-heavy kicks pounding their way through space and time.

EXERCISE ONE
PROWL (DONATO DOZZY REMIX) (ExOne)
An undisputed master of the remix (see his Plays Bee Mask release last year), Dozzy gives a deep throb and menacing atmosphere to this old Exercise One track. His unique way with drums – at once spacious and powerful, hypnotic but never repetitive – is on full show here.

DREAMWEAPON
A SEQUENCE TO DEATH (Opal Tapes)
Finishing off this month with something a little more banging, this debut release from an American duo is a fine example of the balance between techno and noise that Opal Tapes has become so well known for. Not smooth, not deep, but an awful lot of fun.
