VOICES FROM THE LAKE VELO DI MAYA
(The Bunker NY)
First full release from Donato Dozzy & Neel since their epic album on Prologue back in 2012 comes on the new label operated by the Bunker club in New York. Culled from a live set at the club, these tracks display the same blend of hypnotic repetition, dubbed-out atmospherics and moments of sublime force as found on their acclaimed full-length.
DONATO DOZZY & NEUL AQUA 1
(Spectrum Spools)
More Dozzy here, can't get enough. After releasing the Italian's set of Bee Mask remixes, Spectrum Spools are giving us more with this 2LP re-issue of the much- revered Aquaplano Sessions, originally released in 2008 by Hardwax. Tribal rhythms, hidden grooves, ecstatic chord changes – classic Dozzy in other words.
THE BLACK DOG ISM
(Dust Science Recordings)
Ism is the first track off the first of four EPs in The Sound Of Sheffield series. Partly built using audio material gathered from around their home city, this is The Black Dog at their most dancefloor-focused – big, clear, no-nonsense beats and chords, designed for big systems. Simple, effective, timeless.
BENEATH OCCUPY
(PAN)
A very different sound of Sheffield here. More abstract and even more percussive than usual, this new Beneath EP is a departure from hs previous stuff on Keysound or Tectonic. Though fans of the Bristolian Livity Sound or the grime-influenced "130" group (Visionist, Wen, etc) will undoubtedly like this, Beneath is a producer operating entirely in his own world at the minute.
BASS CLEF FULL MOON REVENGE RAINBOW
(Alter)
Another producer with links to the Bristol bass community (and a record coming out on PAN this month), Bass Clef (below) self-released the Acid Tracts album on cassette last year. Without doubt one of his finest full-length efforts to date, it's been picked up by Alter for the vinyl re-issue treatment. This is the final track on an album full of warm and warped cosmic acid goodness.
