Dan Croll has had an excellent run of sweet pop tunes honed with a sleek modern edge. The Liverpudlian singer-songwriter knows his way around electro-pop's more attractive swings and roundabouts, as demonstrated by previous tracks
Home
and
Compliment Your Soul.
His debut album is full of similar advert-ready fare, perfectly in tune with pop's current sonic promiscuity. Be it the manner in which he sends
From Nowhere
on its way with Afrobeat frills and fringes, or the subtle, beautifully unruffled folkie harmonies of the title track, it's obvious that Croll is quite the skilled craftsman. There's nothing groundbreaking in evidence on
Sweet Disarray,
and, as is often the case, the best tracks were already in circulation as singles. Still, there's enough of a sense of an emerging talent for you to take note of Croll.
