There’s plenty of all-star form in Future Brown’s geographically diverse ranks. Between them, Kuwaiti native Fatima Al Qadiri, LA duo Asam Maroof and Daniel Pineda (aka Nguzunguzu) and J-Cush from New York label Lit City Trax have had a hand, act or part in many shapeshifting releases.
As befits their collective name, the four-piece maintain their fast-forward momentum with an album full of smart ideas, genre hopscotching and next- level brainstorming. The constant ducking and diving between hip-hop, dancehall, grime, r’n’b and electronica results in an imaginative rush of sound.
There are fine guest turns from various vocalists and MCs (Tink is superb on album book-ends Room 302 and Wanna Party), but the real pleasure here is in observing four top producers stretch themselves that little bit further. A bold, brash, exciting clarion call.
