Perennial sideman Gary Husband is equally impressive on drums and keyboards, but in truth, this is one for the guitarists – a revamped version of his 2010 release, jamming with some of his most illustrious six-string associates.
Yorkshire-born Husband has backed some of the greatest axe-men in jazz-rock, notably his fellow Yorkshire men, Allan Holdsworth and John McLaughlin, and they repay the compliment here, along with a host of other front-rank fusionistas, including guitarist Mike Stern, synth master Jan Hammer and Level 42 bassist Mark King.
The grooves are deep, the guitars are loud and the playing throughout is electrifying. New bonus tracks include fascinating raw mixes of Holdsworth's immaculate Fred, with Hammer on keys, and a free-flowing jam with Stern.
