There's a reason why 21-year-old Meghan Trainor is being touted for greatness in 2015 after several years of writing hits for other people. You'll already have heard wry doo-wop number All About That Bass, of course, and much of Title has the same sassy melodies and empowering, middle-finger-aloft lyrical sentiments. The finger-clicking pomp of Dear Future Husband and the swoonsome balladry of What If are highlights, while glimpses of Trainor's feisty character bursts through the cutesiness on Bang Dem Sticks, her amusing ode to drummers. Still, the overbearing 1950s filter – harmonies, brass, dreamy crooning – ultimately does her a disservice; while it's fun, it runs out of steam over the course of an album. meghan-trainor.com Download: All About That Bass, Bang Dem Sticks
