London producer Moiré inhabits an interesting space. There are others who dwell out here on the margins of leftfield house and techno – his label boss Actress is another resident, for example – so it's not as if this is unchartered territory. What's striking about Shelter is how Moiré moves the chess pieces very simply and subtly around the board to ensure his album comes with a far different set of bearings. There are precedents for how tracks like the gorgeously involved Elite/Hands On and the rowdy Stars have grooves that roam at will, but his approach directs the listener towards some interesting terrain. Throughout, Moiré loops and spans with great panache. facebook.com/MoireMusic
