Chances are few casual music fans had heard of or paid much heed to Robin Thickle until the title track to Blurred Lines began popping up all over the place a few months back. Aided and abetted by Pharell and TI, the single and its video have probably done more for Thicke's profile than his five previous albums combined, putting the one-time backroom boy who has produced and co-wrote for Michael Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Usher and Brandy very much in the limelight. There's not quite another radio-friendly sunny beauty like the title track jumping out here. Instead, Thicke weaves a path through various shades of r'n'b (For the Rest of My Life is the best of this caste), some booming, brash over-sized wobblers (Give It 2 U with Kendrick Lamar as the vocal foil) and a few valiant attempts at foxy, funky pop blasts (Get in My Way). robinthicke.com
