TRACK OF THE WEEK
Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do
So, a couple of things to think about. Taylor tends to start an album campaign with a curveball track (think Blank Space or We Are Never Getting Back Together), so we're taking the sonic direction of this track with a pinch of salt. And the second thing is that this track works in tandem with the video, which sells the almost-vaudevillian OTT drama of the chorus than the music alone can.

But for all the talk about the chorus or that middle-eight (the iconic line: ‘the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Because she’s dead!’), we can’t stop thinking about the haunting, thrilling way she intones ‘honey’ when she coos “Honey I rose up from the dead, I do it all the time”. As usual, you’d be foolish to underestimate her.

Hero of the week is Pink, who used her VMAs speech on Sunday to explain how she's trying to set different standards of beauty for her daughter. "I said to her: 'do you see me growing my hair? Do you see me changing my body? Do you see me changing the way I present myself to the world? Do you see me selling out arenas around the world? That's right, baby girl. We don't change. We take the gravel and the shell and we make a pearl. We help other people to change so they can see more kinds of beauty.'"

Zero of the week is music that has no human connection, Lady Gaga told V Magazine. "You can always go back to a loss, or the pain of a pending loss, or a challenging struggle in your family life... And that's what writing this album was all about. Because after The Fame Monster and subsequent albums, I felt that there was a part of me that was connecting on a human level with the public and part of me that was connecting on a whole new level, one that I had been wanting to connect with them on, a sort of fantastic magical level. And now, I want more of that connection."
