An Oscar winner last year for the Sideways screenplay, Alexander Payne doubles up as director and actor in the portmanteau film, Paris, Je t'Aime, which had its world premiere at Cannes and features vignettes on love in the city from 18 directors.

Payne (pictured left, with actor Elijah Wood at a photocall for Paris, Je t'Aime in Cannes) got the best reviews of all of them for his segment, and he also turns up uncredited in Wes Craven's contribution, which is set in the Père Lachaise cemetery. Payne plays Oscar Wilde, delivering witticisms and giving lessons in love to Rufus Sewell's character when he falls and hits his head on Wilde's tombstone.
