The eighth annual Portobello College mock trials competition for transition-year students takes place at the Four Courts, in Dublin, on Saturday. More than 200 schools take part in the Public Access to Law transition-year programme; this year's competition will involve 28 teams from around the country, selected from a lottery-type draw.
Senior members of the judiciary and members of the Bar judge the mock trials. The competition also features individual competition categories, including newspaper-reporter section, television-reporter section and photography and court artistry.
