Pop goes the Fringe show

Ten minutes of fame is not enough for an hour’s entertainment

Meadhbh Haicéid’s articulation of her stalker-ish love of Madonna, having decided they are soul mates, sparkled at 10 Days In Dublin, where it occupied a 10-minute slot. Here, that performance of initially uncomfortable yet strangely compelling wonky comedy is stretched beyond its means to more than an hour. The slow-motion monologues, awkward dance interludes and rough performance art (leg-shaving, holding a candle in a bowl, applying lipstick for an age), test the audience’s endurance to watch-checking levels of impatience. Haicéid clearly has a unique talent of sorts, but this is not the show in which to display it.
