Dubliner Tim Boland co-wrote the score for Stomp the Yard, which has topped the US box-office chart since it opened two weeks ago.
Described as "Bring It On for boys", Stomp features Columbus Short as a troubled teen sent to the all-black Truth University, where he reveals his stepping dancing skills in a contest.
Boland, who collaborated on the score with Sam Retzer, is from Ballsbridge. He has worked with artists from Elmer Bernstein to Ozzy Osbourne to UB40 in Dublin recording studios before moving to Los Angeles in 1994, where he has worked with Earth, Wind and Fire, Dave Grusin, Ike Turner and Morris Day. Stomp the Yard opens here on March 16th.
