DJ HELL
Misch Masch Fine/Four Music ***

For all the front and frolics that comes with his International DeeJay Gigolos carry-on, Helmut Josef Geier still has the ears to recognise quality cuts when they come flying by. For his Misch Masch outing, Hell ducks and dives between electro, techno and electrohouse to produce a seamless set, one which highlights tunes that have oodles of punch and panache along the way. For instance, Gavin Herlihy's Machine Ate My Homework sounds all the better alongside Robert Hood's Rhythm, while Sebastien San's Point of No Return has a tough, edgy buzz to it. For CD2, as with previous Misch Masch mixers, Hell concentrates on his own CV and hangs out his remixes on the line. For every new gun given the Hell treatment (Justice v Simian), he's also keen to remember what he's done for the likes of Pet Shop Boys, Grace Jones and, God forbid, electroclash chancers Fisherspooner.
