RABBLE ROUSER
Amanda Palmer
The Academy Dublin 7.30pm €28
ticketmaster.ie
Where to start? Palmer is as formidable, confrontational and enlightening a component of the music industry as you’ll ever experience. These gigs are billed as “An evening with…”, and are, therefore (and somewhat ironically), an intimate tête-à-tête with one of the most popular caring/sharing musicians in the webiverse.
CLUB
Circus Summer Carnival
The Academy Dublin 11pm €10/€8
The Middle Abbey Street club’s Satuday night spectacular gets all dolled up for the summer with three rooms of capers. There’s a DJ set from indie rock superstars Two Door Cinema Club, an appearance from scratch world champ DJ Flip, live music from hair rock cover supremos Sunset Kiss, and performances from the Young God Squad breakdancers and circus daredevils Aerial Cirque. You won’t know where to look with all of that going on.

Lee Foss will need no introduction to those interested in kick-ass house music. The co-founder of Hot Creations, Foss has overseen that label’s huge growth in recent times, particularly with releases by Hot Natured, Digitaria, Greg Pidcock, Richy Ahmed, Robert James and wAFF. He’s joined at Building Society tonight by Dublin DJ and producer Kaily, whose run of releases for imprints like Lapsus, Beatdown and Deeptown are gaining a lot of traction of late, and Jake Dodd.
