What is it? Garnacha Habanero Salsa (€5; 250g).
What’s good about it? It is an intensely fruity and hot Mexican salsa made with roasted red peppers and habanero chillies. The roasted red peppers bring some sweetness but it still packs a punch.

Who makes it? It is made by Mexican/Irish couple Andrea Bustos and Andrew Brady, who also make a Chipotle Salsa. They started making it in their home kitchen in Skerries and selling it to friends and family in March 2022. They were accepted into the SuperValu Food Academy and now have a production facility in Swords. The couple spent six month travelling in Mexico in 2021 and got married there.
How do I use it? It is incredibly versatile and good for much more than dipping tortilla chips into or drizzling on tacos and fajitas. “We also like to stir the salsa into pasta dishes, you can mix it up with cream, yoghurt or cream cheese to make a creamy pasta sauce, or spice up your Bolognese,” Bustos says.

Where can I buy it? It is currently in some SuperValu stores – Finglas, Sutton, Swords Pavilions, Blanchardstown, Skerries, Balbriggan, Rush, Lusk, Rathborne and Navan. It is also stocked by Picado Mexican food shop, which can deliver it across Ireland.
Anything else? The salsas are packed in jars made with, on average, 60 per cent recycled materials. The couple will soon release a third product, a salsa macha.
