Two wines from South American this week, one from either side of the Andes. Both are on promotion in SuperValu this weekend. As mentioned last week, sales of rosé wines dip as soon as the good weather disappears. There is no good reason for this. Perhaps we should see rosé as a winter white wine instead? The Santa Rita version has a little more colour than a Provence Rosé, but this doesn’t mean it is sweet.
In combination with wine company Invivo Graham Norton has built up a portfolio of wines spanning four continents. In general, the wines are good, especially when on promotion. The wine below comes from Mendoza in Argentina, home to some of the world’s greatest Malbec. The GN version will, according to the back label – “turn heads, break hearts and leave you wanting more.” I cannot guarantee a broken heart, but the wine is very drinkable.
