A six-day gathering of climate campaigners gets underway in North Kerry today. Slí Eile is the main group behind what’s being called the first climate camp in Ireland since 2010, on farmland at Saleen Pier near Tarbert. The umbrella group, Climate Camp Ireland, says the location was chosen to show opposition to the proposed construction of a liquefied natural gas terminal on the Tarbert/Ballylongford landbank. US President Biden announced on 01 August, that the United States killed al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in a drone strike in Afghanistan on 31 July, in a counter-terrorism operation carried out by the CIA.
